Time to Jet Set! Wednesday April 30th, 2008

If you are sleeping on the job or in class WAKE UP! lol I hope everyone is doing well today. Over the past couple of days I have had some really enlightning conversations with some good friends and collegues in which have been really inspiring. I have to I am truly blessed to have the friends that I have. I thank you all for being a part of my life. Life is short. Do not take people and things for granted.

One thing I feel a lot of people take for granted is this world. There is so much to this earth. It is said that we only use 6 percent of our brain. A lot people do not even travel to 6 percent of this world in their lifetime. I live in New York City (Harlem U.S.A. if you did not already know!lol) and there are people that I know that live in Harlem that have never been to downtown Manhattan. I know people that have never left the borough of Brooklyn in their lives. Some of these people are not young. They are old enough to collect social security. I find that unbelievable. It always good to get out of your immediate surroundings and see the world from a different perspective. There are so many beautiful people, places, and cultures to encounter. It can be a real life changing experience. When I was twelve, there was a trip offered by my school to go to France for a month during the summer and stay with a family out there. My mother made sure that I went on that trip. It was such an amazing trip and made such a positive impact in my life to this date.( I love you Mom! Thanks!) . By travelling you can even learn more about yourself and your own culture. Who knows? You may even meet your soulmate. I strongly urge everyone to make time in your schedule for travel. Make a list of some places to go to and make it happen. Trust me, you'll be happy that you did it.

Here is a list of some of my favorite places that I have been and also some places I plan to go to.

RIF-Reading Is Fundamental Monday April 28th, 2008

Hey Everyone. I hope you had a great weekend. It's about that time of the year where people are dusting off the BBQ grill, pulling the motorcycle out the garage, and taking the crash course workout regiment to get ready for the warm weather has arrived.

Today I want to briefly touch upon a topic that I feel is becoming a lost pastime in our society which is reading a book. Due to the technological boom in our world it seems like that reading a book is lost in the ruff . Television, PDA devices, and computers has really taken over. When I look around I see people texting someone on their phone, playing game on their blackberry, or even checking their facebook page on their IPhone. Even when I go to a cafe where you used to see people have a beverage and reading a book, they are now posted up with their laptop browsing the web.

Dont get me wrong, I dont feel that people all of this stuff is negative. I just feel there needs to be more balance in what we do.

Even when I go to a lounge or club I see people all into their PDA devices rather than enjoying the company they are around or the event they are attending. Some poeple I see so engrossed in their gadgets that if a fire started where they were they would be clueless of it even happeneing.

That is why I feel we should find the time to read more books. Not only can you gain knowledege but it gives you some the focus on that is non tecnological(Especially in the A.D.D. world that we live in now!) .It also can be relaxing.

I know some of you are probably squirming in your seats because you may not like to read books. That's okay. Take baby steps . Read some magazines that have some substance to it. That does not mean Playboy, The Source, Comopolitan, or something gossipy. Read a magzine that is going to give you some useful information that you would never read before. Go out the box! Here is a list of some suggested books and magazines for you to read.

Freestyle Friday's and The Sean Bell Verdict April 25th, 2008

T.G.I.F Good peoples! It's time for some fun and laughs to get ready for the weekend. Some of you may have rolled into to work after being out late last night dinking...And maybe some of you did not make it to work.

Here's some good work place humor.

I had to put this one in for those who have never seen this.

Shout out to Eric and Jeff over at www.itsthereal.com . Keep up the great skits!

On a more serious note, this morning the verdict of the Sean Bell Murder came out. It was announced and the cops that shot him were all acquitted. It is really sad to see how our justice system works. Please edify me on the functionality of it. A man gets shot at 50 times, murdered, and no one goes to jail. A person who gets caught for tax evasion goes to jail for years. Someone who gets caught for DUI goes to jail. A person who sells a gram of Marajuana or cocaine can be indicted for months or years. A person who rapes someone can be free to walk. America is truly a capitalistic society. It's money over humanity. If you mess with someone's money you go to jail. If you do something inhumane you have a chance to live freely except if you harm dogs or any animals (i.e. Micahel Vick) . Sean Bell could have been any one of us. This just does not make any sense. Sometimes I feel like we have to go back to ancient times with Hammurabi and the Law of Codes when it was an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth for true justice. RIP Sean Bell and blessings to your family. Everyone please post you opinions and comments on this.

Throwback Video of the week

This is a classic!

Harlemite's NBA Playoff Predictions and Advice for Raising Your Daughter

What up everyone?!

I hope you had a good weekend!

If you are a basketball fan you should have definitely enjoyed all of the games that were on this weekend. It's going to be a tough road for any team to win the Championship this year. As promised, I will give you my predictions today. Even though the masses feel that the Celtics and Lakers will meet in the finals I dont think that is going to happen. It would be great for the league but I dont see it. We are about a year away from that. I am sticking with what I predicted from the beginning of the year. The San Antonio Spurs playing the Detroit Pistons in the Finals and the Spurs taking home the trophy. I feel this will be the Spurs' last year of dominance due to the age factor of the team. They are team where it doesnt matter where they play whether it's home or away they can come away with a victory. The Pistons will not be phased by the home lost in Game One to the 76ers. They have enough depth and experience to beat Philly and then beat the Celtics in the Easetern Conference Finals. I do feel John Rondo stepped his game up immensely for Boston but they are one year away.

As a fan, I would love to Suns play the Celtics in the finals. It would be to see Shaq and Steve Nash get into the finals play the Boston three party in Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. Sleeper team to look out for in the East: The Orlando Magic. Here's a funny NBA clip for you guys to enjoy.

If they all joined the same eam they could take on Theta Nu Theta fraternity from the movie Stomp the Yard...Watch out Neyo! lol

All of you parents out there that have daughthers take a look at this clip. By having your daughter do this at an early age will make a guy think twice about acting a fool or disrespecting her when she's older.

Word of the day- Piffle (noun) Idle or silly talk. Piffling (Adjective)

The piffling conversation that the two guys had on the on the subway about the Knicks winning the Championship next year made me laugh and jump into their conversation to redicule them.

Well on that note, I am done for the day. Until manana. Adios!
